Speaker’s Bio

João Peças Lopes was born in Portugal. He obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering - University of Porto in July 1981. From 1981 to 1982 he worked as Engineer in the department of studies of an electrical equipment manufacturer - EFACEC. In November 1981 he joined the staff of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Porto as teaching and research assistant. In 1988 he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Porto, having reached the highest grade. In November 1996 he obtained his Aggregation degree also from University of Porto. He is presently Full Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of FEUP – Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, being also Director of the Sustainable Energy Systems PhD program. Dr. Peças Lopes is presently Director of INESC Port.
